Inventing Tomorrow Teacher Workshop hosted by PBS SoCal
Join PBS SoCal for the Inventing Tomorrow Teacher Workshop. This workshop aims to equip teachers with resources, based on the Peabody Award-winning PBS film Inventing Tomorrow, for in-person or online learning centered on the exploration of environmental problems and the process of science. This 90-minute training will empower teachers to help students engage in collaborative work, participate in citizen science, and explore local issues in their community all while developing students’ ability to think about the interconnected nature of Earth’s systems. Participants in the workshop can expect to be introduced to the learning modules, lessons, activities, and engage with free tools available to them for teaching science.

This workshop will be hosted by Gary Abud, Jr. An educational consultant and award-winning educator, Gary is the author of the children's book Science With Scarlett. He is also a double cornea transplant recipient who, since having his sight restored, was moved to use his teaching gifts to make learning fun for others. He lives with his near Detroit and often consults with organizations on awesome STEM projects like Inventing Tomorrow. Gary is the 2014 Michigan Teacher of the Year.
